Read-A-Thon wraps up this week.
We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow night for our book fair, our first/second grade performance and school wide art show. 5th grade students will be presenting their artwork and 4th grade will be presenting their science fair projects. 5th grade students will be presenting to various community members so make sure to dress your best.
Have a great week everyone!
Good afternoon! This is Heartland Elementary School Principal, Emily Campbell.
I’m contacting you to share that our school resource officer asked us to go on a soft lockdown out of an abundance of caution. Law enforcement officials were in pursuit of an individual. We felt that the pursuit may pass through or by our school. However, we now know that it will not.
A soft lockdown means that students and staff go about the day as normal. However, no one enters or exits the building while the soft lock is in place. Everything is fine here, and all is well. Again, our school resource officer has asked us to do this out of an abundance of caution.
The soft lockdown has been lifted. Our day will finish as normal and we will dismiss as usual. Thank you for your support and your cooperation.
Please begin common assessment.

Dear Families:
Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. AND—as always—every purchase at the Fair benefits our school.
Here’s what you need to know about the big event, which will take place from March 16th through March 20th and we will be open during the Spring Student Showcase on March 16th from 5:30-7:00.
Say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy. If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Book Fair online. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $35. Every online purchase will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more, shop and/or setup the eWallet https://www.scholastic.com/bf/heartlandelementaryschool

We will celebrate Read Across America the week of March 2nd. Enjoy Dress Up days as we celebrate our love for reading!

Midterms are going home Monday, so teachers will need the work to include with mid terms.
Thank you everyone for a smooth and successful common assessment.
Before the rain comes in, we are going to try for a fire drill today. It will be done through Raptor but we will still pull the alarm.
Have a great day- don't forget to stop by the conference room to get something yummy from the Gathering Bakery.
